What Should A Small Business Plan Look Like?

I am looking to visit my bank to discuss ideas for starting a small business and they suggested that I might wish to make a plan. Please could you tell me what the plan should consist of and how I would go about writing it?

A formal plan for a bank far exceeds the time and energy that any of us can really go into. Might I suggest a trip to the library for not one but several books on business plan writing. You have only one shot at producing a killer business plan so know what to say and not say and have all of the answers ready to explain yourself.

    It should say:
What you are going to do
How you are going to do it for
Where you are going to do it
How you are going to get customers
Where you are going to win those customers
Why you are better at it than other people
It should also have at least one year of financial forecasts.

  4. The plan should include as many references to Chuck Norris as possible. If you are not given the loan, get Chuck Norris to speak to your manager. This will leave you manager dead, therefore unable to refuse any more applications.

you can get examples from bank web sites. or google for business plan samples.

simply ask the bank what they require!

Formulating a business plan is one of the most important tasks when starting up a new business. It will help you set targets, collate all your ideas, plan for the future of your enterprise, and verify that your idea for a business is realistic and workable. The business plan is an essential tool in attracting funding to get started. It is a dynamic document that should be reviewed regularly in order to monitor and measure the performance of your business.
This factsheet describes what a business plan should include, how you should go about writing one and what you will achieve by doing so. It includes hints and tips as well as sources of further information. It is aimed particularly at start up businesses that need to raise funding, but the principles stated are equally valid for established businesses looking to grow http://www.scavenger.net/product.php?pro…
you should be able to get a copy of this guide free of charge from your local business link http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/act… and you should ask them of a copy of the business opportunity profile (BOP) for the business you are starting too. (you can search for the one you need on http://www.scavenger.net/home.php?cat=10…
if you are going to the bank in order to get a loan, or if you are seeking other funding then your business plan will need to be more financially based than if it was for you as a guide to where your business is heading.
however I would suggest that you explore business grants fully before borrowing any money, check out the free business grants directory on business link’s site http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/act…

good luck with your new business venture and with writing your business plan. Rebecca x
